Hello & welcome to all. This blog represents work students in my 3rd grade completed after having been rewarded with grant monies from PPEF (Portsmouth Public Education Foundation) & NERRS (National Estuarine Research Reserve System) for the school year 2011-2012.
Students learned how runoff containing pollutants affects Melville Pond and Narragansett Bay with a visit from Save The Bay educators. The program took place on Friday, Oct 28th and was called "Life In Your Watershed".
On November 9th, students walked to Melville Pond which is right behind our elementary school and with the educators from The Norman Bird Sanctuary, used dip nets and caught live plants and animals and determined their species.   Click videos below to see students!
